The Whey Pat, for traditional hospitality
On the wall just next to the door, there's a painting inspired by Robert Burns' Tam O'Shanter in which many of The Whey Pat's regulars are immortalised. That's just the kind of friendly bar it is: somewhere that feels as homely and down-to-earth to newcomers as it does to the locals who've been coming here for decades. In keeping with the traditional real ale and whisky ambiance, there's a folk music evening every Tuesday with six regular musicians and guests. There's a steak pie prize for the dominoes champion on a Wednesday and sundry daft prizes for the Thursday-night quiz. For home games, you'll catch the darts team in action on Monday - and the board is there for your use at other times.
